PRESIDENT RULES TO LIFT SALARIES, PENSIONS

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed decree July 7 to raise the size of public sector salaries, retirement pensions, government scholarships for students and social allowances.

Aiming at elevating the income and living standards of population, and consolidating social security for citizens, the decree stipulated increasing the lowest set for wages, pensions, stipends and allowances by the average 15% from August 1.

The new size of minimum salary has been set at 57,200 soums per month, pensions and allowances for the disabled from childhood at 111,875 soums, and benefits to the elderly and citizens incapable of work without a required work experience – at 68,645 soums.

All types of additional payments, including allowances for mothers with children under the age of two, for families with children, compensational and other payments are also set to enlarge in accordance with the decree of the head of state.
