The President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met the chairman of the Council for Rail Transport of the Commonwealth of Independent States, President of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin at Oqsaroy Residence on 27 October.

The head of the state noted the consistent development of cooperation of CIS and Baltic States railway workers, a clear confirmation of what was the conduction of the Tashkent Railway Forum.

The sides exchanged views on further development of cooperation between the railway companies of Uzbekistan and the CIS and Baltic states.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received Indian Foreign Minister Somanahalli Krishna in Tashkent on 23 October.

Welcoming the guest, the head of Uzbekistan said that the relations between the two states were developing successfully. They are based on historical, cultural and spiritual closeness of the people of the two countries.

The Uzbek-Indian relations are based on the principles of mutual trust and respect. The two states have established close and constructive contacts on the highest level.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received US Assistant State Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert Blake on 12 October in Tashkent.

Islam Karimov said Uzbekistan and the US had been developing relations in various spheres, which, among others, cover a wide range of issues of international policy. Among them are combating transnational threats and strengthening regional security and stability.

The two states cooperate in establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan and the economic renewal of this country. Delivery of non-military and humanitarian cargo to Afghanistan is carried out through the territory of Uzbekistan.

The President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received the president of the General Motors International Operations and the executive vice president of General Motors Nick Reilly on 9 October in Tashkent.

The sides considered issues of organization of the production of the new car models in Uzbekistan, expansion of localization, improvement of export strategies and implementation of joint projects in the car industry.

Islam Karimov said the cooperation between Uzbekistan and the General Motors was developing intensively and the meeting was a good opportunity to consider issues of strengthening this cooperation.

The President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received the Federal Councillor and the head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland Micheline Calmy-Rey in Tashkent on 8 October.

The President noted that the Uzbek-Swiss relations were developing intensively and that the meeting was a good opportunity to discuss various issues of bilateral cooperation.

The Swiss Federal Councillor said her country highly valued relations with Uzbekistan and was interested in their further development.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received General Secretary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the director of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure executive council and the participants of the SCO National Coordinators Council session on 11 September.

During eight years of functioning, the SCO has become an influential international organization, playing an important role in forming the regional and global security architecture, Islam Karimov said at the meeting.

“Establishment of cooperation between MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG and Uzavtosanoat demonstrates the interest of the MAN group of companies that you head to the automobile industry of our country,” Islam Karimov said.

Uzbekistan attaches great importance to further development of relations with the United States and is ready to expand constructive bilateral and multilateral cooperation based on mutual respect and equal partnership, Islam Karimov said.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received special representative of the President of South Korea An Sang Su at Oqsaroy residence in Tashkent on 10 August.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the Uzbek-Korean relations and other issues representing mutual interest.

Islam Karimov said the relations between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea were developing in all spheres.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received US Under Secretary for Political Affairs William Burns in Tashkent on 13 July.

The head of the state said the meeting was a good opportunity to exchange opinions on the issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

“We consider your visit as the confirmation of the United States’ readiness to further develop relations with Uzbekistan on a constructive and pragmatic basis, with consideration of the long-term interests of the both countries,” Islam Karimov said.
